Beta 1400mm EPO KIT - Kavan
The BETA 1400 model under the KAVAN brand retains the external features of the original BETA 1400 model, but it is a completely new model with slightly changed dimensions, a new wing profile, brushless motor with a folding propeller and a much more sophisticated design. New shapes and advances in foam technology ensure that all parts are much finer and more precise. The BETA 1400 model - a reliable and powerful school and training motor glider - is ideal for those new to flying, taking it from learning to fly to acrobatic figures and thermal sailing. It also pleases hobby pilots, who are offered a space-saving and easily transportable model for great, relaxed model flying.
BETA 1400 is made from the highly resistant, extruded polyolefin foam EPO and is powered by a brushless motor. Thanks to the engine placed on the pylon behind the wing, the model withstands rough handling very well and can also withstand stuck landings, which would damage the propeller in classic models with the engine in the nose of the fuselage.
The fuselage with the pylon behind the wing is prepared for mounting a brushless motor with outrunner (we recommend KAVAN C2814-1400). The hull is made of EPO foam. The Bowden cables with wire rods for controlling the rudder and elevator are already glued. The servo bays are prepared and correspond to the dimensions of the KAVAN GO-09 servos. The canopy is removable with a magnetic closure. The two-piece wing is also made of EPO foam. The ailerons are controlled by 2 servos that are linked in the wing by short direct wire linkages. The wing halves are connected with a CFRP pipe connector and secured with a screw on the underside of the wing. The tail units in the classic arrangement are also made of EPO foam and are controlled with Bowden cables. The engine is cooled by the airflow that flows through the pylon and engine openings. Ailerons, rudder, elevator and engine speed are controlled.
To control the model you need at least a 4-channel RC set. In this case, both aileron servos are connected to one channel with a Y-cable. When connecting the receiver, follow the operating instructions for your RC set. It is ideal to use at least a 5 channel computer RC set. This allows aileron servos to be controlled independently. In this case you can adjust the differentiation of the aileron deflections. For starters we recommend 50% - i.e. the downward deflection of the aileron is limited to 50% of the upward deflection. To make landing easier, it is advantageous to mix the ailerons as aerodynamic brakes (tilt them up). You will appreciate this on smaller landing areas and especially when flying on slopes. When setting the aerodynamic brakes, make sure that when the ailerons are fully deflection upwards in the braking function, the possibility of their full deflection upwards in the aileron function is also maintained.
The brushless speed controller should have a minimum load capacity of 18 A - KAVAN R-20B, for example, is ideal.
To power the Beta 1400 model, you need a 3-cell LiPo battery 11.1 V with a capacity of 1600-2200 mAh (load capacity 20C).
BETA 1400 is suitable for those new to flying - we always recommend making the first takeoffs under the supervision of an experienced pilot in order to enjoy a relaxing time while model flying. The flight characteristics are pleasant. The model introduces you to control around all three axes as well as proper coordinated control with rudder, elevator and ailerons. This experience is useful when you start flying your first aerobatic model or semi/scale model. You can adjust the rudder travel by changing the length ratios of the servo and rudder levers. The novice pilot begins with small rashes. The experienced pilot sets large swings that also enable a bit of aerobatics - BETA can do loops, barrel rolls and turns quite well! The engine power is sufficient for a very steep climb. The model is not over-powered, which could cause difficulties for those new to flying. BETA 1400 can also take advantage of weak thermals and stay in the sky for a long time.
The quick-build kit includes: a fuselage made of EPO, a wing made of EPO, tail units made of EPO, a CFRP pipe connector for the wing, a folding propeller 7x6", a small parts accessory set, 2 printing sheets (one for the red one and the other for the blue one version) and detailed construction and flight instructions.
